UMBRÍA-DARKNESS
To speak of light is to speak of a living being. A silent animal that moves, changes, and evolves over time. A body that travels through spaces, slips through the gaps of architecture and, in doing so, takes on form. It is architecture itself that sculpts light, guiding and shaping it throughout the day and across the seasons. Light adopts multiple states. At times it enters grazing the surface, like a blade cutting through space and revealing its edges. At other moments it becomes filtered and diffuse, creating a serene, almost suspended atmosphere. Umbría is that space of penumbra where light does not remain, but appears only sporadically, momentarily transforming the place. This exhibition seeks out those moments in which light penetrates space and transforms its material, revealing a latent image that was always there, waiting to be discovered. But if light is the protagonist, darkness is its inevitable counterpoint. Both coexist. It is the darkness that occupies the margins, that retreats and hides behind corners, which allows light to appear in all its intensity and for its forms to fully unfold.
